Reston, located in western side of Fairfax county of Virginia in the Washington DC Metropolitan area, was the first modern, post-war planned community in USA. It was found and established by Robert E.Simon in April 1964. The founder used the concepts of land use and residential development and hired one Architect as a master planner to incorporate higher density housing and conserve open space and mixed used areas of industries, commercial, recreations, educational centers and residential housing. This 17.40 sq mi piece of land has 4 lakes, large swathe of wooded areas with natural pretty runs streams and wildflower meadows, golf courses, foot pathways, 20 public in and outdoor swimming pools and many other recreation facilities, catered for its 60K population.. The Municipal Government-like services are provided by non-profitable Reston Association, supported by household fee of about US$500.00 per year from all residential properties in Reston.
