Christmas in DC Washington



Winter Holiday began after the official Lighting of National Christmas Tree in front of the white house by The President of United States. Many homes began decorating their houses to greet the coming season.



The Lighting of National Christmas Tree is a 89 years tradition practice in United States. Since year 1923 when President Caloin Coolidge walked from White House to the Ellipse to light up a 48 feet tall fir tree decorated with 2500 electrical bulbs in red, white, and green with performance of a local choir and a "quartet" from US marine band, this American holiday tradition has been continued for 89 years to bring the citizens together to share a message of hope and peace.



The official annual lighting of the national Christmas Tree in front of the White House usually set in early December. This year (2011) is the 89th anniversary and President Barrack Obama invited the public to participate in the ceremony on December 1st. at 5.00pm evening. All decorated bulbs are environmental friendly high power white LEDS to highlighting "Go Green"



The history of The Lighting of National Christmas Tree is intertwined with history of American. Through peace and war from National celebration to National mourning, Americans gathered together and celebrated the season in this holiday event.



Surrounded the auspicious National huge Christmas Trees, there are 56 decorated trees representing all 50 states 5 territories plus District of Columbia along the Pathway of Peace.

White House, the resident of United States' President, is one of the American favorite architecture in the nation.






Bull Run Festival of Lights is a 2 1/2 miles drive through holiday light show at Bull Run Regional Park in Virginia, 30 minutes drive from DC.



In this seasonal event, there were more than 40,000 animated lights setting to music.



The Light Shows held each year from end November to early January to celebrate the winter holiday season has been continued for 12 years.



The light shows featuring cartoon character like penguins, candy cranes, frosty the snowman, Santa's workshop, tin soldiers, elves etc. , attract 30,000 people each season. Visitors came from as far as 100 over miles away.
