Niagara Falls in Fall

Niagara Falls was discovered more than 300 years ago and today receiving millions of visitors from all over the world. There are three main falls namely American Falls, Horseshoe Falls and Bridal Veil Falls. They located on the Niagara River which flows out of Lake Erie, draining four of the Great Lakes into Lake Ontario. The falls were formed when these combined water on its midway course, plunged over the edge of a high cliff at the border of America and Canada.

This is my second visit to Niagara Falls. I traveled to this natural marvel 7 years ago in summer when pleasant breeze blowing in from the lakes under warm sun and waters roaring in green. And, this time I was welcomed by the multicolor autumn glory in cold wind. The whole region has been tinted by the fall foliage into red, orange and gold color. I wonder how would it look like in winter, when it is screened into white with snow.

Father Louis Hennepin, a French missionary and explorer, was the 1st European to describe Niagara Falls as Prodigious cadence of water which means mighty falls in 1687. It became world class attraction after the completion of Erie Canal in 1825 followed by the railroad connecting to western New York.
